UP COLLEGE OF LAW PAYS TRIBUTE TO SLAIN JUDGE
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines’ College of Law paid tribute to its alumna who was shot inside her office by her clerk of court last week.
The college sent its condolences to the family of Judge Ma. Teresa Abadilla.
“The UP Law Alumni community mourns the demise of Judge Ma. Teresa S. Abadilla, Class of 2002, who took to heart the principles we hold dear—honor, excellence, and service. Her tragic death, while in the line of duty, heightens our collective grief,” it said on Facebook.
Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta also sent his condolences to the family of Abadilla, who started her career as a clerk in the Supreme Court.
“I personally know her to be an upright and highly competent magistrate. I offer my sincerest condolences to the mother, Manang Susan Samonte Abadilla, and the siblings of Judge Abadilla and all her friends,” Peralta said.
Abadilla was shot dead by Amador Rebato reportedly during an argument. The lawyer killed himself after shooting the judge.
