UNIVERSITY OF CEBU CHANCELLOR HELPS CANCER-STRICKEN TEEN
THANKS to the help of University of Cebu Chancellor Candice Gotianuy, a father got his wish that his cancer-stricken son be treated.
Melchor Degamo asked help for his 13-year-old son, Raphael, whose leg needed amputation due to cancer.
Gotianuy shared that she was surprised when the surgeon informed her that the boy will no longer be amputated. The surgeon waived his fee for the surgery to remove the tumor.
Gotianuy has been granting wishes through #UCMakeAWish for employees at the UC, the UC Medical Center, the College of Technological Sciences and St. Vincent General Hospital which she funds herself as a “personal gift.”
The chancellor also facilitated a donation drive for fire victims in Brgy. Mandaue, Cebu on Wednesday.
