UE CONFERS GAWAD BAGANI SA KOMUNIKASYON AWARDS ON MEL TIANGCO AND TED FAILON
THE UNIVERSITY of the East conferred the Gawad Bagani sa Komunikasyon award on news anchors Mel Tiangco and Ted Failon.
Tiangco received the Bagani sa Larangan ng Telebisyon for her work as anchor of GMA primetime news program “24 Oras.”
She received the same award in 2016 and in 2018.
Meanwhile, Failon accepted the Bagani sa Larangan ng Radyo for his work on the program “Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo 5” on Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM.
Launched in 2014, UE Caloocan’s Gawad Bagani sa Komunikasyon is a community service project which aims to celebrate the impact of media among ordinary people in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.
It recognizes and appreciates “warriors” in popular media “who fight against social injustice rooted in poverty as manifested in unemployment, illiteracy, illness and powerlessness.”
Previous Gawad Bagani winners include Jessica Soho, Vicky Morales, Kara David, Julius Babao and Kaye Dacer, Arnold Clavio, Mike Enriquez, and and UE graduate and former Vice President Noli De Castro.
