THE UNIVERSITY of the East appointed Dr. Zosimo Battad as its president and chief academic officer.

Battad replaced Dr. Ester Garcia, who recently retired.

Battad’s term started on January 1, 2023.

Prior to being appointed as president, he served as the chancellor of the UE-Caloocan for 12 years.

Also, he was elected by the Boards of Trustees of both UE and the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. to be a member of both boards last October 2022.

A licensed agriculturist, Battad finished his Master of Science in Animal Science and Ph.D. in Animal Science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 1985 and 1990, respectively.
