TIP STUDENTS WIN IN RESEARCH FESTIVAL
STUDENTS from the Technological Institute of the Philippines Manila won first runner-up in the recent lecture competition in the 2nd Accounting Students Research Festival.
The group of Accountancy students Alyssa Quiñones, Stefanie Anne Maming, Rica Mae Arienda, Gem Margaret Lucero and Venice Marie Arroyo was recognized for their entry titled “Researchtopia.”
The group said that Researchtopia is a fairytale-themed video that addressed the issue of plagiarism and offered tips on how to avoid it when working on academic papers.
It also features a student struggling with her research project and being helped by online fairy godmothers.
“We focused on the subject of plagiarism because we believe it is extremely important that we rely on trustworthy, evidence-based, and credible sources whenever we gather data and information, especially online,” Quiñones said.
The team credited its success to its unique concept and the support of their school.
In partnership with PwC Philippines/Isla Lipana & Co. and the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Committee on Research and Development organized the virtual competition.
PICPA is the national professional accountancy body of the Philippines. It is hosting the 2nd Accounting Research Festival from February 25 to April 29, 2023 with the theme “PICPA Playing Forward and Sustaining the Potentials of Accounting Students Through Research.”
