SILLIMAN U STUDENTS WIN 2ND RUNNER-UP IN 2024 PH JUNIOR DATA SCIENCE CHALLENGE

BUSINESS administration students from Silliman University secured 2nd runner-up in the 2024 Philippine Junior Data Science Challenge.

The team, composed of Reyden Amores, Ryne Piñero, Kristelle Ace Navarro, Christine Mae Amada, and Julius Isaac Santos, developed a project titled “Navigating Urban Mobility: Improving Public Transport Accessibility Through Web Application.”

Their proposal aimed to create a user-friendly web application to enhance public transport accessibility. The team was mentored by Asst. Prof. Larry Vincent Regencia, Dr. Ofelia Ragpa, and Asst. Prof. Myla Sardan.

On October 11, the team was named a top 10 finalist out of 30 competing teams nationwide. They were recognized with a plaque, certificates, and their project was published on the UP-Data Science GitHub page. The team aims to develop their project into a fully functional mobile app to improve urban transportation.
