SCHOOL IN BOHOL ORDERED LOCKED DOWN AS 14 TEACHERS FOUND COVID19 POSITIVE
FOURTEEN teachers from the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School in Tagbilaran City, Bohol tested positive for Covid19 prompting officials to order a lockdown for 14 days to prevent transmission of the coronavirus disease.
The lockdown started on February 18, 2021.
DCPNHS Principal Maurine Castaño said most of the teachers are Grade 7 mentors. Of the 14, 10 are from Tagbilaran City.
Castaño said the teachers contracted the virus from a personnel who reported to work on February 6.
“One was admitted in a private hospital while 13 were sent to quarantine facilities. All the other 13 teachers, who tested positive, stayed with the first patient inside the air-conditioned Grade 7 faculty room during distribution of learning modules,” she said.
The teachers attended the Learning Action Cell session in school and they also distribute modules for different grade levels on scheduled days.
Teachers are required to attend LAC sessions once a week to observe teaching demonstrations.
DCPNHS, the province’s most populated school, has 7,399 students and 284 teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Castaño said the distribution of modules was suspended.
“The modules can wait. We have to ensure everyone’s safety first. We have to remember that life once lost cannot be recovered,” she said.
She said the school will reopen once the city’s inter-agency task force gives the green light.
