THE SAMAR State University received the Energy Efficiency Excellence Award from the Department of Energy for its green and sustainability initiatives.

SSU bagged the award for its energy conservation projects.

The university retrofitted buildings and installed solar panels as alternative power source.

The university also resorted to the use of LED lights which has reduced electrical consumption.

SSU has also been implementing its 5Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reflect, and Remeber waste management system, in accordance to its Green University Roadmap.

“As SSU lives up to the award and continues to envision a smart, healthy, and green University, it shall continue the adoption of energy efficient lighting and cooling appliances through an established renewable energy systems and conservation measures,” SSU said.
