PUP STUDENTS AIR DISMAY OVER VIRTUAL GRADUATION

/ 30 September 2020

SEVERAL students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines were dismayed by the school’s announcement that only the names of students will be flashed on screen during the graduation rites for batch 2020.

The virtual graduation for the Sta. Mesa campus will be held today, September 30.

The students asked the university to put more effort into making their most awaited  graduation more memorable.

“Ganun lang din pala pinatagal pa,” “Sana mga class presidents nalang ‘yung pinaedit n’yo para may picture!!!” “Virtual na nga lang di pa maeffortan lagyan kahit picture. Lol.” and “Lah Mahal ng grad fee tapos di man lang pagka abalahang lagyan ng picture,” were some of the sentiments that the students have shared on their social media posts..

The university has announced that the ceremony will be simple.

“The virtual graduation rites, which features pre-recorded parts, will be simple and symbolic. Only students’ names will be flashed on screen given the big number of candidates for graduation,” the PUP admin posted on Facebook.

Some students have proposed the holding of a physical graduation ceremony next year so that they can also experience the joy of marching on stage.

The graduation will be broadcast on PUP’s official Facebook page and on the Youtube account of the PUP CreaTV.

The graduation schedule for students in other campuses has yet to be announced.
