PUP PROFESSOR BAGS NUMEROUS INT’L PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS

A PROFESSOR from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines has collected dozens of awards from local and international groups for his work in photography.

In all, Jophel Botero Ybiosa won 50 awards, including nine top prizes, nine second place wins, four third-place spots, fifteen high honors, four acceptance awards, and eight finalist finishes.

His awards came from Canada, Hong Kong, France, Russia, United Kingdom, US, Hungary, South Korea, Taiwan, India, and United Arab Emirates.

“Among his top awards were the Gold Award from the New York Photo Fair, Best in Class Award in Master Photographers International Image Challenge (Canada), 1st Place Winner in the World Heritage Site Photo Competition (India), Nominee for Events Photographer of the Year in The Societies of Photographers International Image Competition (United Kingdom), Topnotch Filipino Artist and Professional Leadership Award in the Asia-Pacific Luminare Awards (Philippines),” PUP said.

“He was also a 3rd Place Winner in the International Online Contemporary Art Competition (Art Alebrio Gallery, Russia), Honorable Mention in Photojournalism in the Annual Photography Awards (United Kingdom), Honorable Mention in Photojournalism in the Tokyo International Foto Awards (Japan), and Acceptance Award in the Mental Health International Exhibition of Photography (Iran),” it added.

Ybiosa is a nine-time Ani ng Dangal national awardee.

Ani ng Dangal award is given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. It recognizes Filipinos who won or earned the highest honors and recognition in competition and events abroad.
