THE Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ Hygears and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s ALTAS Valor will represent the Philippines in this year’s Shell Eco-marathon in Indonesia.

Shell Eco-marathon is a global academic program focused on energy optimization. It is one of the world’s leading student engineering competitions.

SEM 2023 will be held from July 4-9 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit in Lombok, Indonesia.

PUP Hygears’ vehicle Luna IV will compete in the Battery Electric Prototype category.

Meanwhile, ALTAS Valor’s vehicle named AVALON will join the Urban Concept Internal Combustion category.

AVALON is an automatic engine powered by Continuously Variable Transmission. It has a carbon fiber body with enhanced stock parts and an aluminum chassis.

Vice President for Corporate Relations of Shell Pilipinas Corporation Serge Bernal urged the students to utilize the opportunity to learn.

“Be proud that you are the representatives of the country to progress sustainable mobility,” Bernal said.
