THE PANGASINAN State University gave out mountain bikes to select students to help ease their transportation woes as the university returned to face-to-face modalities.

PSU said that the bikes were donated by Sen. Pia Cayetano who is also an avid biker. The senator’s donations were distributed to beneficiaries in nine campuses of the university.

Dr. Dexter Buted, university president, said the move is also to promote a healthy lifestyle among the PSU community

“The distribution of road bikes to qualified students is one of the institution’s [answers] to universal access to quality education,” Buted said.

“It reduces the burden on the student particularly transportation expenses, especially that oil price and fare expenses hiked drastically in this post-pandemic period,” he added.

Guidelines for prospective recipients will be issued by the university in the coming days.
