A research team from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology won the Best Paper Award in the recently concluded International Conference on Research, Innovation, and Investment organized by the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines.

More than 300 participants from various countries attended the virtual international conference.

MSU-IIT’s MS Biology student Jayson Pucot, BS Biology alumna Jea Christine Escala and Prof. Cesar Demayo were recognized for their research entitled “Phytochemical Screening, GC-MS Analysis and In vitro Pharmacological Investigations of Myristica simiarum A.DC Bark Ethanolic Extract.

Their paper was co-authored by Dr. Mark Lloyd Dapar, faculty member of the Department of Biology of the Central Mindanao University in Bukidnon.

The team expressed hope that their paper will be published in the Mindanao Journal of Science and Technology, a scientific journal published bi-annually by USTP and indexed by Scopus and Clarivate Analytics.
