MARIANO MARCOS STATE U TO BUILD METEOROLOGY LAB
THE MARIANO Marcos State University will soon have its own meteorology laboratory.
The laboratory will be set up through a P10-million fund raised by Senator Edgardo ‘Sonny’ Angara. It will be located at the MMSU’s Communication Arts Building in Batac main campus.
The laboratory is seen to enhance the university’s BS Meteorology program.
MMSU is one of four universities in the Philippines that offer BS Meteorology. The others are the Central Luzon State University, Visayas State University and Bicol University.
Prof. Angelo Benedict R. Ragunjan, chairman of the Department of Physical Sciences, said the building that will house the laboratory will serve as the center for atmospheric and climate research, forecasting and modelling.
“The meteorology laboratory will surely help us in enhancing scientific and technical skills of our students, making them more competent meteorologists in the future,” Ragunjan said.
CAS Dean Marivic M. Alimbuyugen said the lab will ensure that meteorology graduates will be able to embrace future technologies in the field.
