LYCEUM WARNS ALL LYCEANS VS DATA THIEVES
THE LYCEUM of the Philippines University-Manila urged its students, faculty and staff to protect their data against hackers following reports of fake duplicate accounts.
The school advised all Lyceans to turn their Facebook accounts private and utilize the application’s two-factor authentication feature to prevent their data from being stolen.
The university issued the warning after complaints on fake Facebook accounts circulated online. Some of the fake accounts sought favors from people.
Reports on fake accounts surfaced in June when students from various areas complained that they had duplicate Facebook accounts.
The university said that the National Privacy Commission is monitoring reports and taking steps to resolve the issue.
Facebook said that it has launched an investigation regarding the matter and advised individuals to report accounts that they believe are inauthentic.
