IFUGAO STATE U TAPS DICT, META TO RETAKE FB PAGE FROM HACKERS
THE IFUGAO State University has sought the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology and Meta Management to take back its Facebook page from hackers.
In a statement on Facebook, IFSU said that DICT’s Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center and Meta, Facebook’s operator, helped retake the page and have apologized to its constituents for the hassle.
“We understand the inconvenience caused by this incident, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption it may have caused,” the school said.
“We are committed to strengthening our security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future,” it added.
IFSU’s last ‘normal’ post was on December 7, 2023, before retaking ownership of the platform on January 3, 2024.
According to Kroll, a financial and risk advisory firm, the Philippines is one of the most vulnerable countries when it comes to cyber attacks.
DICT also said that at least 3,000 high-level cyberattacks were recorded in the country from 2020 to 2022.
The IFSU community also rejoiced with the news, noting that their primary source of information concerning the university has been restored.
