HUAWEI BARES SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS FOR UP COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS

HUAWEI Technology Philippines, Inc. announced its very first scholarship program with the University of the Philippines College of Engineering during a virtual launch last week.

Among those present during the online launch were UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation President Ferdinand Dela Cruz, Engr. Alfonso Tito Aliga, Jr., and Prof. Juvy Balbarona of the College of Engineering.

In his welcoming remarks, Dela Cruz lauded Huawei’s initiative .

“Huawei is definitely an inspiration for UP and the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation,” he said.

The scholarship is open to third to fifth year engineering students. Chosen students will receive P73,000 annual stipend and book allowance.

Huawei Philippines Human Resource Director Jade Cao said Huawei gives importance to education, not only in the country but in other parts of the globe.

“As a company, Huawei values education. It is one of the pillars of our Tech4all Program and inspires us to launch our scholarship program not only in the Philippines, but in other parts of the world,” Cao said.

“We appreciate the partnership with UP. We look forward to more collaboration in the future,” she added.

Huawei is now accepting scholarship applications. Interested students may contact [email protected]. The deadline for submission of application is on September 30, 2020.
