HOLY ANGEL U FIRM ON DECISION NOT TO ACCEPT PROMISSORY NOTES
THE HOWLS of protest and appeals of students and their parents did nothing to change the decision of the Holy Angel University in Pampanga to stop accepting promissory notes for Academic Year 2020-2021.
The Angelite, the school’s student publication, reported that HAU Registrar Dr. Jesus Panlilio said that promissory notes will only aggravate the financial difficulties of students as it adds another layer of debt to their previous debts.
Panlilio said that the university will allow continuing students who are unable to pay the full down payment to pay a minimum of P3,000 to enroll.
Those who have debts will have to settle their unpaid bills first after which they will be allowed to pay P500 to enroll.
Last January, the students lamented that the university did not inform them that it will stop accepting promissory notes.
Some parents appealed for leniency but their attempts to use promissory notes were rejected.
The students also aired their grievances on the overpriced laboratory fees for the second semester of Academic Year 2020-2021.
