FEU OFFICIAL APPOINTED TO UNACOM EDUCATION COMMITTEE

AN OFFICIAL of Far Eastern University has been appointed to the Education Committee of the Philippine National Commission for UNESCO, the school announced earlier this week.

FEU Consultant for External Affairs, Atty. Gianna Montinola, had her appointment officially announced in October 2024. The role reflects her enduring commitment to advancing education, cultural heritage, and lifelong learning in the Philippines.

“I am deeply honored to contribute to UNESCO’s mission through this role,” said Montinola. “This is an opportunity to advance education and cultural initiatives that empower communities and build a more sustainable future for the Philippines.”

Her priorities include promoting UNESCO Learning Cities in the Philippines, fostering UNITWIN networks for global academic collaboration, and expanding the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet).

Montinola joins a distinguished panel of leaders in the Education Committee, including Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara, Commission on Higher Education Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director-General Jose Francisco B. Benitez, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Minister Mhagher M. Iqbal.

Representing private education alongside Montinola is Dr. Joseph Emmanuel L. Angeles, President of Angeles University Foundation.

Established in 1951 under Republic Act 621, UNACOM serves as an advisory and liaison body aligning the nation’s education, science, and culture initiatives with UNESCO’s global mission.
