CEBU Normal University President Dr. Daniel Ariaso Sr. attended the National Higher Education Day Summit 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

He was accompanied by Dr. Janet Mananay, OIC-Director for Internationalization, and Dr. Venus Cortes, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, according to the university’s website.

At the event, Commission on Higher Education Chairman Prospero De Vera III highlighted that over two million Filipinos now have access to free higher education.

CHED also presented its strategic plan for 2024-2028, focusing on inclusive access and student success, good governance and efficient management, and reinforcing community responsibility in higher education.

As a research institution, CNU has been providing free education since 2017 under Republic Act No. 10931, known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

The summit was part of CHED’s celebration of the 4th National Higher Education Day and the 30th anniversary of the commission.
