THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Diliman on Tuesday revealed that 29 students will graduate as summa cum laude this year.

In a Facebook post, UPD shared 29 photos of students who obtained the highest academic distinction.

Summa cum laude is a Latin phrase meaning “with the greatest honors.”  To become one, a student must earn a weighted average grade of 1.20 or better.

This year’s summa cum laude graduates are John Virgilio Banda Afable Jr. (BS Computer Science); Carmela Maria Pascua Berba (BS Biology); Sabrina Nicole Tejano Blanco (BS Chemical Engineering); Anton Raphael Santiago Cabalza (BA Anthropology); Jian Lorenzo Gopez Chan (BS Computer Science; Eunice Valerie Li Chua (BS Business Administration & Accountancy); Gabrielle Marie Limpe Chungunco (BS Molecular Biology & Biotechnology); Kate Allison Sy Co (BS Molecular Biology & Biotechnology); Julia Bernadette Lim Edralin (BA Psychology); and Micaela Neslin Zacarias Fadriquela (BS Psychology).

They are also joined by Kobi Christian Sy Go (BS Chemical Engineering); Stephanie Nicole Ong Go (BS Applied Physics); Spencer Shaun So Keh (BS Business Administration & Accountancy); Alyssa Nicole Manrique Loveres (BA Psychology); Maria Margarita Reyes Magbuhos (BA Anthropology); Michelle Mariel Chua Mariposa (Bachelor of Music-Voice); Maria Andrea Kristina Saquido Onglao (BS Industrial Engineering); Nathan Joseph Puno Oranga (BS Business Administration & Accountancy); Chynna Therese Nicole De Pano Reyes (BS Psychology); and Kimberly Joy Reginaldo Sanchez (BS Business Administration & Accountancy).

Rounding the top honors are Anna Beatrice Bulalacao Sancio (BA Broadcast Communication); Francesca Anais Young Siasoyco (BS Business Administration & Accountancy); Elaine Co Tan (Business Administration & Accountancy); Gene Audrey Uy Tan (BS Computer Science); Trenton Lao Tan (Business Administration & Accountancy); Francesca Louise Coseip Villanueva (Business Administration & Accountancy); David Martyn Regilme Vinluan (Bs Industrial Engineering); Filbert Heinrich Tui Wee (BS Computer Science); and Nerice Athalia Chiang Yu (BS Business Administration & Accountancy).

Established in 1908, UPD is the flagship campus of the national university. It has been consistently listed as the top university in the Philippines.
