THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Diliman said that it will have 147 summa cum laudes this year.

In a Facebook post, UPD shared 147 photos of students who obtained the highest academic distinction.

This number is higher than the combined summa cum laude graduates of the university from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, there were only 29.

Summa cum laude is a Latin phrase meaning “with the greatest honors.”  To become one, a student must earn a weighted average grade of 1.20 or better.

In addition, there are 652 magna cum laude and 634 cum laude graduates, bringing the number of recipients of Latin honors to 1,433 this year.

Established in 1908, UPD is the flagship campus of the national university. It has been consistently listed as the top university in the Philippines.
