A MILITARY personnel died while two others were wounded in a shooting incident inside the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City on Tuesday, September 29.

An initial report of the Baguio City police said that the incident involved Airman 2nd Class Christopher Lim, who barged inside the PMA barracks with an M16 rifle at 4:30 p.m.

PMA Spokesperson Major Cheryl Tindog said that Lim shot Staff Sergeants Joefrey Turqueza and Vivencio Raton.

Although injured, Raton was able to hold down Lim as they engaged in a scuffle. Turqueza was killed on the spot.

Raton and Lim were taken to the Fort del Pilar Station Hospital and later transferred to the Baguio General Hospital.

“The cadets, who are located far away from the place of incident, remain safe inside their barracks,” Tindog said.

“Investigation is still ongoing. The PMA is committed to an impartial investigation in order to shed light on the incident,” she added.
