THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and participating local government units have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of school buildings in 49 public schools nationwide as part of efforts to address the country’s classroom shortage.

The agreement was signed under the leadership of Education Secretary Sonny Angara and PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco.

Under the agreement, PAGCOR will allocate approximately P55 million for the construction of classrooms in the 49 public schools, with the projects targeted for completion in 2027.

The initiative seeks to help ease the classroom shortage while providing students with safe, accessible, sustainable and quality learning facilities.

The partnership is part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create better learning environments for public school students.
