/ 25 January 2026

MALABON City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval reaffirmed the city government’s support for student journalism as she addressed the BA Journalism General Assembly at City of Malabon University (CMU), describing the gathering as a meaningful engagement with the next generation of media practitioners.

In a post shared after the event, Sandoval thanked and encouraged BA Journalism students to continuously hone their skills in reportage and storytelling, stressing the vital role young journalists play in delivering accurate, relevant, and responsible information to the community.

The mayor emphasized that youth journalists are important partners in promoting truth and informed public discourse, especially at a time when misinformation poses significant challenges to society.

“As your public servant, we will continue to support education and the formation of the next generation of journalists—young people with courage, integrity, and a deep commitment to the truth,” Sandoval said.

She also expressed pride in City of Malabon University and its BA Journalism students, lauding their dedication to the craft of journalism and their potential to contribute positively to the city and the nation.

The event forms part of the local government’s broader efforts to strengthen education and youth development in Malabon, in line with its thrust of empowering informed, engaged, and socially responsible citizens under the banner of #MalabonAhon.
