/ 24 January 2026

A TEAM of fourth-year Accountancy students from Silliman University clinched second runner-up honors in the 10th PwC Philippines Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Challenge after the final round held recently in Makati City.
Competing as Team Synergy, the group outperformed more than a hundred teams nationwide to place third overall in the national case competition focused on mergers and acquisitions.
The team was composed of Alessandra Isabelle A. Donesa, Arabella L. Torres, Brent John Xylex C. Tabinas, and Princess Antonette A. Tesado, under the guidance of coach and adviser Dr. Florenda A. Caseres.
Donesa further distinguished herself by earning the Best Presenter award, becoming one of only two recipients recognized for presentation excellence during the competition.
The University of San Jose–Recoletos emerged as overall champion, followed by the University of the Philippines Diliman as first runner-up, while consolation prizes went to the University of San Carlos, University of Santo Tomas, and Tarlac State University.
Organized by PwC Philippines, the M&A Challenge is the country’s pioneering mergers-and-acquisitions-focused case competition, drawing 120 teams in its initial round and offering students real-world exposure to corporate finance advisory practice.
