OVER 950K PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS TO RECEIVE P1K INCENTIVE ON WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

/ 1 October 2025

MORE than 950,000 public school teachers nationwide are set to receive their ₱1,000 World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) on Sunday, October 5.

The announcement was made by House Assistant Minority Leader and Eastern Samar Rep. Christopher Sheen Gonzales.

“The ₱955 million funding for this year’s WTDIB is line-itemized in the 2025 General Appropriations Law, with a special provision to guarantee its timely release,” Gonzales said.

Gonzales, who serves on the House committees on appropriations and on basic education and culture, assured teachers that the annual incentive will remain a priority. He added that lawmakers are also pushing to further increase the benefit.

Earlier this month, Gonzales and House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan filed House Bill 4531, which seeks to triple the WTDIB to ₱3,000 per teacher.

“The proposed higher benefit is not merely an incentive but a clear expression of our nation’s gratitude. Public school teachers are the backbone of our education system. They deserve recognition not just in words but through tangible support,” Gonzales said.

The measure would also institutionalize the WTDIB, first granted by Congress in 2019 through a line-item provision in the national budget.
