LETRAN DOMINATES JRU IN NCAA MEN’S VOLLEYBALL OPENER
LETRAN started its NCAA Season 100 men’s volleyball campaign on a high note, defeating Jose Rizal University in straight sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18, on Friday (21 Feb 2025) at the San Sebastian College-Recoletos gym.
Vince Virrey Himzon led the Knights with 13 points, including 11 attacks and two blocks, while John Derrick Bautista contributed 11 points and eight receptions. Letran’s captain, John Wayne Arano, tallied 23 excellent sets and five points, while Raphael Lorenz added eight points.
For JRU, Paolo Barrientos scored 11 points, while Harry Ji Ocay and team captain Bryle Alipan finished with nine and eight points, respectively.
In the other men’s match, Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) defeated Lyceum of the Philippines, 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17. EAC’s Jan Ruther Abor led the Generals with 27 points, including 23 attacks, two blocks, and two aces. Paul Justine Say added 17 points and 13 excellent receptions.
In the women’s division, defending champion College of Saint Benilde defeated Arellano University, 25-18, 25-12, 24-26, 25-17. Francis Mycah Go led the Lady Blazers with 17 points, while Mary Grace Borromeo and Zamantha Nolasco scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the other women’s match, Lyceum beat EAC, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21. Janeth Tulang led the Lady Pirates with 12 points, including 10 attacks and two aces. Elizza Mae Alimen topped the Lady Generals with 14 points.
