PVL: PLDT EYES STRONG FINISH VS ZUS COFFEE
PLDT High Speed Hitters seek to maintain their momentum and secure the No. 4 seed as they face ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in the final match of the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference preliminary round on Saturday (22 Feb 2025) at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo City.
The High Speed Hitters, with an 8-3 record, will take on the Thunderbelles (4-6) at 4 p.m. PLDT is coming off a thrilling 3-2 win against Creamline, which ended the Cool Smashers’ 19-match streak.
Savi Davison played a key role in the victory, scoring a career-high 34 points with 29 attacks and five blocks, while also contributing 17 excellent receptions.
Mary Joy Baron added 15 points, including 12 attacks, and Fiola Ceballos chipped in 14 points along with 16 digs and 11 receptions.
“That win gives us something to carry forward, proving that we can perform in big games. It builds trust and confidence,” said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort.
The Thunderbelles will rely on Chai Troncoso, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Kate Santiago, Michelle Gamit, and standout rookie Thea Gagate to challenge the High Speed Hitters.
In the day’s other match, Choco Mucho (7-3) will face Chery Tiggo (5-5) at 6 p.m. The Flying Titans will lean on key players like Sisi Rondina, Isa Molde, and Dindin Manabat, while the Crossovers will rely on Ara Galang, Pauline Gaston, and Julia Samonte.
