ANGARA: NO ONE IS TALKING TO ME ABOUT DEPED POST
SENATOR Juan Edgardo Angara on Sunday said no one is talking to him about his possible appointment as the next Department of Education Secretary replacing Vice President Sara Duterte who resigned from the cabinet post.
“No one has spoken to me about that,” Angara said when asked about the issue.
However, Angara admitted that it will not be easy to turn down any offer from the executive.
It was first reported that Angara, Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, and Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual are among the rumored contenders for heading DepEd.
Angara, a graduating senator come 2025, can opt for cabinet appointment if he has no plans of running for an elective post.
There is also information that the cabinet post was offered to Quimbo by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin but she allegedly turned it down.
Quimbo is widely believed to be running for a local post in the 2025 polls.
Duterte resigned from the Cabinet on June 19 but did not give any reason for leaving.
