XAVIER RESEARCH WINS BEST PAPER IN INT’L WATER STUDIES CONFERENCE
A RESEARCH conducted by a Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan professor and alumni was awarded the Best Paper in Oral Presentation in the 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Water Studies.
Titled “Storm Water Management Modelling and AHP Selection of Flood Mitigation Measures: the Case of Carmen Catchment, Cagayan de Oro City,” the research bagged the award in the Water-related Disasters Category.
It was authored by Engr. Jefferson Vallente, a faculty of the Civil Engineering Department, and alumni Jose Andrew Villarosa, Jasper Ho, Yotsakorn Sia and Vincent Wong.
With the theme “Reimagining Water Future: Connecting the Visible and Invisible,” iWatCon22 served as an avenue for local, regional and international exchange of insights, knowledge, and practices on sustainable water resources management.
The conference was attended by researchers from Japan, Hungary, Norway, and the Philippines.
It was organized by the University of the Philippines’ Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Water.
