PERPETUAL STAYS ALIVE AGAINST EAC AFTER A THREE-SET SWEEP
University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD) remained dauntless after defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in a three-set match, 25-21, 25-17, 25-7, in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.
Perpetual survived the gritty Lady Generals in the first set after closing the gap from 10-6 to tie at 11 but the Lady Altas made a run of 7-2 to finish at 25-21.
Razel Aldea commandeered Perpetual and finished with 12 points and three blocks followed by Mary Rhose Dapol’s 11 points and Janine Padua’s 10 points.
EAC tried to dictate the pace in the second set but Perpetual exploited the frequent no-man zone at the backcourt of the Generals and always pushed back the ball right at the team’s hole which caused them to advance with five points difference, 20-15.
It was too late for the Generals to realize their mistake and register only two points while Perpetual finished the job 25-17 with a two-man block.
Krizzia Reyes led the EAC with 11 points from all her attacks but that was not enough to pull up the team’s error of 24 points.
Perpetual did not even sweat in the third set as they scored nine points in a row to leave EAC scoreless. And that setup broke General’s hope and let Perpetual take the victory with a whopping advantage of 18 points at 25-7.
