VICE President Leni Robredo called for the installation of underground cables in typhoon-prone areas, saying that this system will be more cost-effective in the long run.
Robredo said the electrical lines toppled by Typhoon Odette disrupted power and communication services.
“One realization from the series of very strong typhoons which hit our country is that our next priority infrastructure development agenda should be putting electric and communication lines underground, particularly in typhoon-prone areas,” Robredo said on Facebook.
She added that such a measure was pushed by Representative Edcel Lagman.
Robredo visited some of the areas devastated by the typhoon.
Her office helped gather relief goods for the victims of ‘Odette’.
