DOH: GOV’T PLANS TO HOLD LIMITED F2F CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

/ 17 July 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Health said that the government plans to start holding limited face-to-face classes among younger children.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that children have lesser risk to contract Covid19.

She said officials discussed the plan with child health experts, the Philippine Pediatric Society and the technical advisory group.

“The plan would be that we would start with the younger age group because they would have the least risk of getting infected,” Vergeire said.

She added that the plan is being studied by the Inter-Agency Task Force.

Classes for School Year 2021-2022 will start on September 13.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that distance learning will continue since President Rodrigo Duterte had ruled out the holding of limited face-to-face classes because of the threat of the Delta Covid variant.
