SOME local government units have sought permission from the Department of Education to use classrooms as temporary isolation facilities, according to the League of Provinces of the Philippines.
Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr., president of the League of Provinces of the Philippines, said that poor provinces do not have enough isolation facilities.
“Iba sa probinsya at LGUs lalo na sa lower ranked. Hindi masyadong marami ang isolation facilities niyan at kulang sa pondo,” he said in an interview on Dobol B TV.
Velasco stressed the need for isolation facilities as LGUs opened their borders to travelers following the easing of quarantine restrictions.
He also sought the deployment of more vaccines in provinces amid the increase of virus cases in some LGUs.
The OCTA Research earlier said that Cagayan de Oro City, Iloilo City, Butuan, Dumaguete, Tuguegarao, Tacloban, and Cotabato City have emerged as areas of concern because of the fast increase of Covid19 cases.
He reminded LGUs to impose requirements for travelers such as negative Covid19 swab test to prevent a surge in infections.
