Former NBA G League Ignite Team player Kai Sotto has signed the deal set to play with the 36ers and will join the team for the 2021-2022 season in Australia.

“The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce that rising young Filipino talent @kzsottolive has signed a multi-year deal with the Club from NBL22,” the official Twitter account of Adelaide tweeted.

Australian NBL usually has a time frame running from October until March with a total of nine teams to battle for the crown.

But unlike any other professional men’s basketball leagues in the world, the said NBL is flexible towards national team commitments as per the clarification of 36ers general manager Jeff Van Groningen.

Groningen also acknowledged the capabilities of Sotto in the Basketball and professional league saying that “With hard work, his ceiling for growth is very high.”

“Kai realises that he has work ahead of him as all rookies do when coming into this tough league, but his combination of height and developing skill-set give him every chance to raise his game,” he affirmed.

While NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger shared that they are excited to have and see the Filipino NBA prospect play in the league.

“We are delighted to welcome Kai to the NBL to play with the Adelaide 36ers,” Loeliger said.

“The NBL is one of the best leagues in the world and a great league to develop players like Kai Sotto who want to take their game to the next level by playing alongside seasoned professional players in a super competitive league,” he concluded.
