Calling all undergraduate and postgrad students, check out these scholarships that might just be your ticket to getting the education and adventure of a lifetime in Europe
Earlier this week, the ASEAN Scholarships organization released a massive list of scholarships and fellowships available for international applicants, including aspiring Filipino students and graduates itching for an opportunity to take up higher education in a whole new environment. Interested candidates need to move fast, though, as these programs are closing acceptance of applications this month of October.
To narrow it down for you, we’ve listed down the programs to take note of below:
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
OXFORD UNIVERSITY, UNITED KINGDOM
Application deadline: October 15, 2020
Only two scholarships in the college of their choice will be available for the Simon and June Li program, established to fund undergraduate students with exceptional academic achievements who may be unable to take up the program due to financial challenges. All course fees will be provided for, as well as living costs, for 3-4 years. Full details here.
ANGLIA RUSKIN UNIVERSITY, UNITED KINGDOM
Application Deadline: October 23, 2020
The International Excellence Scholarship awards students with exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement that are looking to study at ARU. Valued at £4,000, the scholarship is a fee discount for the first year in university, set to enroll in a three-year bachelor degree or a postgraduate taught degree. Full details here.
FRIEDRICH EBERT FOUNDATION, GERMANY
Application deadline: October 31, 2020
Open to qualified international candidates set to enroll at a state or state-recognized institution in Germany, Switzerland or within the European Union, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation will fully fund students with exemplary aptitudes and personalities, with a commitment to the values of “social democracy.” Valued at EUR 850 per month with a contribution to health insurance, the program targets those pursuing their first degree, Bachelor’s or Master’s in the eligible regions. POSTGRAD PROGRAMS
UTRECHT UNIVERSITY, NETHERLANDS
Application deadline: Various days depending on Positions
The university opens up PhD and Postdoc positions in the following programs: PhD position Earth System Modelling (1.0 FTE), Science & Communications Officer (1.0 FTE), PhD position in Computer Simulations and Machine learning Soft Matter (1.0 FTE), Two PhD positions on molecular mechanisms of protein aggregation in vivo (1.0 FTE), Postdoc position in Plant Molecular Biology/Plant Genetics/Genomics (1.0 FTE). KONSTANZ UNIVERSITY, GERMANY
Application deadline: October 15, 2020
Mainly targeted to researchers, the 2-year and 5-year Research Fellowships are designed to propel applicants aiming for a career in academia. Accepted Research Fellows will be leading an independent research group at the University of Konstanz, and will be given annual research allowance for funding assistance, equipment, etc.
The Zukunftskolle will also give financial support for start-up, consumables and travel costs, while aiding the development of Fellows’ academic skills. Fellows who bring funding for their own position for at least three years can receive as a start-up upon negotiation funding for a PhD-student position. Full details here.
MUNICH INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW CENTER FUNDING PROGRAM, GERMANY
Funding for Students from Developing Countries in Germany, 2021
Application deadline: October 15, 2020
MIPLC, as part of the DAAD’s scholarship program for “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses,” is offering full funding for postgrads in developing countries (according to the OECD DAC list), including the Philippines. The program also provides a monthly stipend of EUR 850, health, accident, and liability insurance payments, a travel allowance, a study and research allowance, as well as a mandatory two-month German course before the start of the academic program. I TATTI, ITALY
Application deadline: October 15, 2020
I TATTI, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies, opens fifteen slots for its Residential Fellowship program. The 12-month program for post-doctoral research is dedicated to the better understanding of any aspect of the Italian Renaissance. Fellows will be given a stipend of $60,000, plus a supplement for relocation expenses, with the option of staying at several I Tatti apartments, rent free, but with charges for utilities. If an apartment is not available, a housing subsidy will be offered to help offset rental costs. Full details here.
GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, IRELAND
Applicant Deadline: October 29, 2020
The Irish Government awards students looking to take up postgraduate education in Ireland, with a stipend of €16,000 per annum. The program provides outstanding students with the opportunity to direct their own research at the early-career stage, working with a supervisor, in their chosen area of interest. This particular grant is highly competitive, with an average success rate of 18% over the past five years. Full details here.
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM OF THE SLOVAL REPUBLIC FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, SLOVAKIAN REPUBLIC
Application deadline: October 31, 2020
Open for international PhD students, university teachers, researchers, and artists, the program is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. Scholars will then be awarded with monthly and travel allowance, depending on the candidate’s eligibility. Full details here.
