SWEET AND SAVORY: TIANGGE’S “FOOD” EPISODE HAS YOUR CRAVINGS COVERED!
“Ang inyong bagong Saturday afternoon tambayan, nandito na ang The POSTiangge!”
The Philippine Online Student Tiangge (The POSTiangge) kicked off last week with an episode that was all about “Clothing”. Aired on November 8 at 4:00 PM was its second episode that featured online sellers of yummy goodies!
The first guest for The POSTiangge’s “Food” episode was Bianca Yap, a 3rd-year Marketing Management student who has dreams of having a business empire of her own. She is embarking on this journey starting as the Tapsi Empress of Malolos, Bulacan. KenZilog is one of her family’s businesses that she is currently focusing on.
This was a food business that she pursued despite the restrictions brought about by the current global situation. In the face of all this, KenZilog has been doing well with their Facebook page now having close to two thousand likes and follows. They sell affordable classic Filipino fried rice with a variety of delicious toppings. They offer the popular ‘silog’ (sinangag at itlog) pairings like TapZilog (tapa), ChickZilog (chicken), and HotZilog (hotdog). They also have sizzling dishes, sisig, and a bunch of BacZilog (bacon) combos. Bianca actually showed off some of KenZilog’s menu items during the interview including their bestselling BacZilog.
Bianca also spoke about how her course, Marketing Management, has helped her in being an student entrepreneur. As this business exists online along with many others, strategic online marketing is of high importance. Bianca emphasized the need to take time in developing business and marketing plans as well as being updated with trends and the wants of the people in making such plans.
Speaking of plans, Bianca also shared her hopes to one day open up a physical store for KenZilog.
It was only fitting to follow up savory dishes with dessert! Interviewed next was Sir Daeron Pabiloña, a journalist and the owner of cookie shop Everydae Indulgence that can be found on both Facebook and Instagram. Scrolling through their page would surely have you craving their scrumptious cookies that are pleasing to both your eyes and taste buds. Even their packaging is beautiful and sustainable.
They offer both classic and unique flavors you wouldn’t want to miss out on like The Origin, Light in the Dark, and Heaven & Earth. Sir Daeron’s long standing passion for baking really shows in the care he puts towards perfecting his recipes. He shared that prior to finally opening up Everydae Indulgence, he also sold cupcakes and other baked goods during his college years.
Sir Daeron shared that the key to achieving anything is through persistence. You have to keep working on whatever it is you want to pursue. It is through this that he, as a one-man team, has been able to grow Everydae Indulgence into the business that it is now in just a year. With the words, “we deserve a piece of happiness everyday,” Sir Daeron hopes to do more with his business by possibly partnering with other businesses such as coffee shops.
From Ejey, Bianca, Ms. Pauline, and Sir Daeron, we have heard inspirational stories of creativity and perseverance. May these encourage us to keep pushing for our own ventures as well as supporting others with theirs.
Moving on from “Food”, the next episode will feature sellers of “Accessories and Cosmetics”. This will be airing on the 13th of November, 4:00 PM, at The Philippine Online Student Tambayan Facebook page. Remember to stay tuned and support local, mga katambay!
