The beautiful and bubbly character of Pearl Gatdula (portrayed by Adrianna So) in “Pearl Next Door” has taken Girls Love series (GL) to a whole new level.

Pearl Next Door is a spin-off of the acclaimed Boys Love (BL) series “Gameboys”. It follows Pearl, the best friend and ex-girlfriend of Gameboys’ Gav (portrayed by Kokoy de Santos) as she finds her “one true love” amid the COVID-19 quarantine.

It was created by Jun Robles Lana, directed by Ivan Andrew Payawal, and written by Keaby Eunice Vicente. The show also stars “Davao Conyo’’ (Philip Hernandez), Iana Bernaedez, and Rachel Coates.

In an announcement posted on Facebook, The Idea First company, which is also the team behind Gameboys, said that Pearl Next Door is heading to London and compete for the Best Web-Series accolade.

“We are thrilled to announce that ‘PEARL NEXT DOOR’ has been selected as an official entry to the London International Web and Short Film Festival! #PNDLondonWebfest,” the company said.

The London Monthly International Web and Short Film Festival (LWF) is known for recognizing short films, web-series, animation, and music videos.

Each month the award-giving body organizes a private screening for a panel of invited guest judges, award-winning actors, directors, and producers. “LWF exists to have your hard work critiqued by professionals working in all aspects of the filmmaking industry.”

“We know how much blood, sweat, and tears it takes to create your web-series and short films. Be it Drama, Comedy or the Weird and Wonderful, LWF was established to celebrate short filmmaking in all its forms,” the group said in a statement

Pearl Next Door, which first aired last October 23, 2020, has eight episodes. You can watch them here.
