UST SNAPS DLSU’S TWO-YEAR REIGN, CLAIMS UAAP POOMSAE TITLE

University of Santo Tomas (UST) defeated De La Salle University (DLSU) and ended its two-year reign in the UAAP Season Poomsae competition.

The men’s team was bannered by Vincent Gabriel Rodriquez, Miguel Alexandre Baladad, and Darious Venerable scoring 8.250 ahead of National University’s James Matthew Lopez, Kier Macalino, Ricco Jame Teraytay (8.380).

While De La Salle settled at 8.220 posted by Jessie Daniel Ignacio, Michael Porras, and John Aldrin Pacana.

Following the feat is the women’s team getting another gold where Aidaine Laxa, Chelsea Xen Tacay, and Stella Nicole Yape bested at 8.515.

Accordingly, Laxa went home with the Season 84 Rookie-MVP award and bagged a silver medal in the women’s individual event.

Kobe Macario and Jade Ashley Carno also boosted UST’s morale by topping mixed pairs with 8.665 before La Salle’s Patrick Perez and Mikee Rose Regala with 8.615 and National University’s Ceanne Rosquillo and Leila Soria took the bronze with 8.555.

With the overall feat of the Jins Growling Tigers, UST head coach Rani Ortega shared his happiness and shared how proud he is of his team.

“One good thing about it is they worked on their individual weaknesses and kung saan pwede pa silang mag-improve. Kaya nung nagkita-kita kami, ang sabi lang namin, ‘You are ready and in condition.”
