MATTY EROLON CLUTCHES A THREE-POINTER TO LIFT ADAMSON PAST FEU
Matty Erolon delivered the game-winning trey in the clutch as the Adamson University (ADU) escaped Far Eastern University (FEU), 64-63, in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Soaring Falcons was down by two in the last 10 seconds when Erolon sank the right corner three off an assist by Jerom Lastimosa, who penetrated the paint against three Tamaraw defenders.
With three ticks remaining in the payoff period, FEU still has the chance to extend the game in the inbound play for Emman Ojoula, however, Cedrick Manzano deflected the pass to secure their win.
With their victory, Adamson snapped a five-game losing spell and improved to a 2-6 slate this season, while FEU absorbed back-to-back losses and slipped to 3-5.
Lastimosa led the Soaring Falcons in scoring finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, while Manzano had 14 points and four rebounds.
L-Jay Gonzales came up big for FEU with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while RJ Abarrientos scored 15 points, four boards, and four assists. Moreover, Ojuola nabbed a double-double performance with 13 points and 17 rebounds.
