LA SALLE SWEEPS FEU FOR 6-3 CARD

De La Salle University (DLSU) pushed Far Eastern University (FEU) on the losing side after a three-set match, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14, yesterday in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Tamaraws dominated the early game with an 8-4 advantage and 11-7. But FEU’s lead did not last as DLSU rallied and finished the first set, 25-23.

“Even if they’re young, they have the capability na bumawi at humabol at ipanalo. All the coaches were happy with their performance,” said assistant coach Benson Bocboc

DLSU continued its burning play in the second set to start with 4-0 but FEU’s performance diminished after the first set upset. Yet this time around, the Taft-based squad was able to reach first the 20 points and leave FEU at a 12 points deficit,25-13.

Thea Gagate was unstoppable and bolstered 14 points alone in the match from nine blocks followed by Leiah Malaluan’s 12 points who gave the finishing point in the third set, 25-14.

As DLSU enjoyed its 6-3 win-loss standing, FEU suffered its sixth straight loss to go to a 1-8 card after seeing its aces Lycha Ebon and Martha Mora due to graduation in the midst of the season

La Salle will play against the University of the Philippines (UP) on Tuesday, while FEU will face Adamson University (ADU) on the same day.
