FORMER UAAP JUDO CHAMPION, UST PLAYER DITHER TABLAN DIES AT 23
The former judo player from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Dither Tablan passed away last Friday, as confirmed by his family.
A beloved part of UST’s sports community, Tablan was a two-time UAAP MVP and was pivotal in helping the Golden Judokas to four straight titles during his stay.
“Rest in peace, Dither Tablan,” The Varsitarian, the official publication of UST posted in their social media accounts.
According to the Tiebreaker Times, Tablan died due to cardiac arrest around 10:15 p.m.
Tablan did not only represent the banner of the España-based squad but also represented the Philippines in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Moreover, he also formerly competed in the collegiate league’s heavyweight class
After five years at UST, he received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Major in Sports last year.
