In celebration of Pasig City's Linggo ng Kabataan, the Barangay Grassroots E-sports League (BGEL) powered by Smart Communications, Inc. and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) Pasig City launched KABPAS GAME ON!, the first inter-barangay esports tournament in the National Capital Region.

/ 28 August 2021

The three-day online tournament drew 28 teams from the local municipality, who will compete in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang arena for the champion’s gold pot from the Php 48,000 prize pool.

GAME ON! was held in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan Council, under the supervision of the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Esports Organization, and was facilitated by Omega Academy.

“Despite the ongoing pandemic, we at Smart still want the kids to remain active and still be competitive,” said Jude Turcuato, PLDT-Smart First Vice President and Head of Sports.

“With all of the kids staying at home, one of the best ways for them to remain active is through esports.”

After the elimination round on Friday, the top eight teams: Santolan’s Pride, HYPE GAMING, KentoyEpro, SCL E-sports, Dito Boss, VERSATILE NEXUX LYNX, Chaos Solid, and Batang Oranbo Boys advanced to the Day 2 playoffs.

The games will be streamed on the official Facebook page of Pasig City’s LYDO and SK Councils until August 29, with the awarding ceremony taking place on the 31st.
