Adamson Lady Falcons claimed their second victory in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament with a huge upsetting four-set match over the UP Fighting Maroons, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 25-11, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday, May 12.

Adamson claimed the first set but the Fighting Maroons recovered to tie the set score, 1-1.

The Lady Falcons then claimed the succeeding two sets to climb with a 2-2 record as Trisha Genesis led the team with her 15 points off 11 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while Lorene Toring had 14 points, and rookie Kate Santiago delivered 11 points off the bench.

Adamson went on for an exemplary offense in the third frame as they started with an 8-1 run and widened the gap to 14-5, and later on finished with a 25-17 advantage.

The Fighting Maroons found it hard to read the attacks of Adamson as the former was left devastated with a massive finish of 25-11 in the fourth and last frame in favor of the Lady Falcons.

With 15 points off 14 attacks and an ace, Alyssa Bertolano was the lone double-digit scorer in the defeat, while Irah Jaboneta was restricted to only six points and 12 excellent digs.

Adamson can now extend its winning streak to three games against the hapless FEU Lady Tamaraws on Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m., while UP looks to rebound against the reigning champion Ateneo Blue Eagles in the Battle of Katipunan at 6 p.m.
