SAN BEDA RED JIN ALFRITZ VICTORIA AREVALO CAPTURES GOLD IN NCAA POOMSAE EVENT

San Beda University dominated the NCAA Season 96 opening day on Monday, with Alfritz Victoria Arevalo capturing the first-ever gold medal in the seniors men's division poomsae standard.

Arevalo ruled the virtual taekwondo tournament with 7.217 points and outlasted seven other competitors to clinch the top podium spot.

Ivan Murray Solimen of College of St. Benilde finished second in the event followed by Roi Vinson Belano of Colegio de San Juan de Letran coming in third, with 7.134 and 7.083 points, respectively.

Finishing fourth with 6.617 is Arellano University’s Christian Dave Tayrus, while San Sebastian College’s John Harold Estoy placed fifth with 6.417.

Rounding out the participants were Mikko Jeremi Bataoil of Jose Rizal University with 6.284, followed by Jake Aldrin Ramos of Lyceum University of the Philippines with 6.150, and Ralph Laurenz Gasco of Emilio Aguinaldo College with 6.033.

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and Mapúa University both begged off to join the competition.

The poomsae competition for the women’s division will be kicking off on the second day of NCAA Season 96 on Tuesday.
