PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said that it will still be impossible to start the league since Covid cases in the country is still high amid the availability of vaccines.

Maski na vaccine na tayo, kung hindi bababa yung cases, hindi pa rin matutuloy yung PBA. Kailangan bumaba yung cases,” he said.

He further said that once the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) would allow the season to begin, they will “defend” as to why the PBA needs to kick off.

Kapag umokay sila task force, idedefend namin. Papatawag kami ng IATF to defend kung bakit kailangan magsimula yung PBA,” he said.

The commissioner meanwhile added that Filipinos should help each other to prevent the spread of the virus so the basketball league can begin.

Kailangan tayong magtulong-tulong para mapababa yung cases kung hindi, hindi tayo magsisimula. Hindi lang basketball, sa lahat.”

The PBA initially hoped to open its 46th season on April 18.
