FINNEGAN, KVAMME SECURE SPOTS IN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

ALEAH Finnegan and Kylee Kvamme, both Filipino gymnasts, have secured berths in the World Championships after their impressive performances in the Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships women's individual all-around competition. The event took place at the OCBC Competition Hall in Singapore on Friday, June 16.

ALEAH Finnegan and Kylee Kvamme, both Filipino gymnasts, have secured berths in the World Championships after their impressive performances in the Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships women’s individual all-around competition. The event took place at the OCBC Competition Hall in Singapore on Friday, June 16.

By finishing seventh and 14th respectively, Finnegan and Kvamme qualified among the top eight gymnasts in the individual all-around, earning them tickets to the upcoming World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. They will join Carlos Yulo as representatives from the Philippines in this prestigious event scheduled from September 30 to October 8.

Finnegan achieved a total score of 50.399 points, excelling in the vault, balance beam, and floor exercise. Her remarkable performance secured her spots in the apparatus finals for these events, as only the top eight gymnasts in each apparatus (up to two per federation) advanced.

As the reigning Southeast Asian Games vault champion, Finnegan earned second place in the vault with 13.533 points, seventh place in the balance beam with 12.833 points, and eighth place in the floor exercise with 12.933 points.

Emma Malabuyo, another Filipino gymnast, qualified for the floor exercise final with an impressive score of 13.033 points, ranking fifth in the apparatus. Malabuyo placed 51st in the individual all-around with 25.333 points.
