DONUT, CADENZA LEADS 2-1 NEXPLAY EVOS UPSET AGAINST OMEGA ESPORTS

Nexplay EVOS leaned on the heroics of Kenneth “Cadenza” Castro and Marius “Donut” Tan to take out Omega Esports via a 2-1 reverse sweep of the SIBOL Mobile Legends: Bang Bang National Team Selection powered by SMART lower bracket, Saturday afternoon.

Nexplay EVOS survived a tough stand against Omega Esports to advance to the third round of the lower bracket of the tournament.

In Game One, Omega drew first blood on Nexplay with team effort capped by Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic (Kagura) pulling off a four-man swipe, followed by Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Ling) securing the Luminous Lord to give the squad a 1-0 advantage in the series.

Raizen tallied seven kills, a death, and three assists while E2MAX added two kills and nine assists against three deaths in the 15-13 win in 19 minutes and 33 seconds.

Come Game Two, things were different for Nexplay as the duo of Donut (Claude) and Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon (Cecilion) proved to be too much to handle for Omega Esports’ frontline, resulting in a 16-7 win and forcing a rubber match. 

Haze finished with nine assists and three kills while Donut chipped in three kills, two deaths, and eight assists in the 24:06-minute victory.

In the final siege of Game Three, pulled out their triumph card — their Wanwan and Inspire strategy from DONUT — while capitalizing on Cadenza’s Ruby to take out three Omega Esports’ members, resulting in a four-man wipe for Nexplay EVOS.

Donut (Wanwan) top-scored with eight kills and three assists against just one death while Cadenza collected a game-high 11 assists laced with one death in the 14-5 win.

With the win, Nexplay EVOS will face ONIC PH for a spot in the losers’ bracket finale.
