Coach Bo says not true as allegations of UP training camp circulates online

UP Fighting Maroons became the talk of the town as rumors circulated in social media that the squad had a training camp in Cavite after an Instagram story posted by UAAP Season 81 MVP Bright Akhuetie doing a shootaround in a court in Silang, Cavite last August 1.

While the UST and NU are still in the hot seat as the investigation under the Joint Administrative Order group is still ongoing due to the alleged training during lockdown, netizens shared their sentiments that the team should be under probe too.

Due to the speculations, UP cleared that they were in Cavite which was still under the General Community Quarantine to secure prior commitments of their players Carl Tamayo and Gerry Abadiano. Coach Bo Perasol, No Where to Go but UP Chief Atty. Agaton Uvero, and Ricci Rivero were also present.

Perasol insisted that he was not coaching Akhuetie in the Instagram story of the player. Coach Bo told that Akhuetie spent his stay in Cavite at his place.

Nag-shootaround kami sa court namin, pero kami lang ni Bright,” said Perasol as he refuted the allegations.

He also shared that he was there with his niece serving as a “ballboy” as the player and coach were doing shootaround but not considered training.

According to the joint administrative order released last July, training like individual shootaround at home is allowed provided that there is no physical contact and that facilities are available.
